For the first time, on a rather grey and rainy day, St Mary’s Church is used as a polling station. Not as convenient as somewhere in the middle of the village, but it does mean that the primary school does not have to be closed for a whole day. The new feature this year, across the country, is a blanket ban on all photography inside the polling station: there was a fear that the absurd popularity of selfies would lead to the secrecy of the ballot being breached. All seemed to go well, though it was a long day for the two polling officers.
